HEADNODIC

Producer and bassist Headnodic is a musical time-traveler. His exploration into the furthest reaches of rhythm and melody, from golden era rap to 70's fusion jazz, has inspired an original and profound voice in hip-hop. Whether he's sampling, chopping, and re-constructing breaks, or fluently performing on any number of vintage instruments, the aesthetic of a well seasoned crate digger is apparent.
His collaborations with many of the most notable names in indy hip-hop have yielded dynamic results, exhibiting his musical elasticity. Some of these collaborators include, MF Doom, Jr. Gong Damian Marley, Brother Ali, Mr. Lif, Lyrics Born, Ladybug Mecca, DJ Shadow, Tash, People Under The Stairs, Oh No, Chali 2na, Zion I, The Grouch, Casual, Mystic, Sadat X, and Del the Funky Homosapien. This list is a veritable roster of hip-hop all-stars, as long as it is deep.
Trained as a bass player at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Headnodic began to develop his signature style which is inspired as much by session legend Carol Kaye as it is by the stuttered and chopped loops of DJ Premier. It was there that he met the members of what would later become the hip-hop band, Crown City Rockers, (originally called Mission: ). He has furnished the low end for Crown City Rockers for over a decade. In addition he has produced, recorded, and engineered a bulk of the group's catalog. Crown City Rockers remains a definitive name in hip-hop, both in the studio and on stage.
A number of other unique side projects that have developed from these long established relationships with the CCR crew and extended family including, Plate Fork Knife Spoon (a jazz-psych band consisting of Crown City's rhythm section), and Moe Pope and Headnodic (aka Megaphone). Then, in 2008, Headnodic joined forces with Gift of Gab (Blackalicious) and Lateef the Truth Speaker (Latyrx) to form the indy-hop super group, The Mighty Underdogs (Def Jux / Quannum).
Headnodic has also released a number of instrumental albums including "Tuesday" and "Headnodic Beats Vol.1" (Insiduous Urban Records), as well as the "Now A Daze / The Drive" 12" (with MC Zion & The Procussions) (Tres Records). The forthcoming album "Red Line Radio" will mark the full length debut of Headnodic as a headlining artist, and it's a firm indication that his musical explorations are already becoming the classics of the future.
*the first 1000 physical copies include a micro 33 rpm 5” record which includes two exclusive songs- “Noddy By Nature” feat. The Might Underdogs & “Nodstradamus”.

REKS

REKS ASSEMBLES A DREAM TEAM CAST OF PLATINUM PRODUCERS INCLUDING DJ PREMIER, PETE ROCK, HI-TEK, SEAN C & LV, THE ALCHEMIST, NOTTZ, SHA MONEY XL, STATIK SELEKTAH & FIZZY WOMACK FOR FORTHCOMING LP

R.E.K.S. (RHYTHMATIC ETERNAL KING SUPREME) WILL BE RELEASED ON MARCH 8th, 2011 ON BRICK RECORDS

Before the Grey Hairs, REKS was just a teenager who fell in love with the Hip-Hop movement. Little did he know, one day he would experience working with and alongside some of those legendary hip-hop icons. Born Corey Isiah Christie in Lawrence, Massachusetts, August 24th, 1977, REKS practically grew up with Hip-Hop. He first embraced the culture by becoming a break-dancer with Funk Town Connection (FTC), competing all over the city of Lawrence, Massachusetts. The legendary Rap styles of KRS-One, Slick Rick, and Ice Cube inspired him to pick up the mic and he started writing rhymes at a very young age. Soon thereafter, REKS began gaining notoriety in his hometown through cipher battles and memorable stage performances. After high school, REKS enrolled at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. With a “Kanye West” drive and mentality, REKS decided to drop out of college after one year to pursue his dream and music career full-time.

REKS took the underground scene by storm with his debut LP, Along Came The Chosen (2001). The album featured production from his ex-classmates Soul Searchers, Fakts One, and a then 18-year old Statik Selektah. The album also featured collaborations with underground stalwarts including Pace-Won & Young Zee of the Outsiderz, 7L & Esoteric, J-Live and MSC group members Lucky Dice and Chi Knox. The critically acclaimed LP was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Album & Artist of the Year at The Boston Music Awards and was featured in the Source, XXL, Vibe, and URB Magazine’s “Next 100”. The album’s single “Skills 101” reached #45 on the Billboard Singles chart, putting him on shows and tours with The Clipse, Ghostface Killah, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Redman, De La Soul, Method Man, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Boot Camp Click, JR Writer and one of his idols KRS-One.

After releasing several mixtapes in the interim, REKS finally released his highly anticipated sophomore LP, Grey Hairs, in 2008 and it saw him once again team up with his former DJ, longtime friend, Statik Selektah who served as the projects Executive Producer and the momentous album featured production from DJ Premier, Large Professor, DC The Midi Alien and ten-tracks from Statik and featured collaborations with Lil Fame of MOP, Consequence, Skyzoo, Termanology, Jon Hope and Big Shug. Grey Hairs firmly established REKS as one of the top rising Indy artists as it is considered an underground classic and it lead to REKS being profiled by XXL Magazine in their “Show & Prove” section.  In early 2009, REKS released the companion piece More Grey Hairs, appeared on Statik Selektah’s Spell My Name Right: The Album and released two more mixtapes (This In Between The Lines Series Vol’s 1&2 which were hosted by Statik Selektah/DJ Green Lantern and DJ Ill Will respectively) and both mixtapes garnered thousands of downloads and widespread praise.

REKS now sets out to take the next step in his progression with what promises to be an instant classic, with his third LP, R.E.K.S (Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme), which is scheduled to be released on March 8th, 2011 on Brick Records.

The LP lists such notable legends as DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Hi Tek, Alchemist, Nottz, Sha Money XL, Sean C & LV, Fizzy Womack and the ever present Statik Selektah contributing production; and newcomers Blaze P and Mike Frey join in for this classic as well.  Throw in highlight tracks with Styles P, Freeway, Termanology, Lil Fame, Attica Bars and DJ Corbet and you have the recipe for another instant classic!

REKS has already set things in motion for R.E.K.S. with the recent leak of a radio-rip of the LP’s buzz-single, “25th Hour,” (produced by DJ Premier) which has found its way to every corner of the Internet.

Included is REKS first single, “25th Hour” (produced by DJ Premier) from R.E.K.S. (Rhythmatic Etenal King Supreme):

Statik Selektah & Termanology
are
1982

Check the banging single "You Should Go Home" feat. Bun B & Masspike Miles!

Statik Selektah and Termanology to Release Collaborative album “1982” on October 26th, 2010

Since late in 2009, Emcee/Producer tandem Statik Selektah and Termanology have been hard at work on their landmark collaborative album 1982. Now New York transplants, Statik and Termonology are Massachusetts natives and have worked together frequently throughout the last five years—yet 1982 marks their first full-length project together.

Termanology began making a name for himself with several highly acclaimed 12" singles. At the onset of 2006, Term’s big break came when DJ Premier blessed him with one of his signature, scratch-laden beats. "Watch How It Go Down" instantly became an underground classic and with it Termanology thrusted himself onto Hip-Hop's international radar. The conscious hood anthem garnered the earnest MC tons of praise, landing him in The Source's "Unsigned Hype" and XXL's "Show and Prove" columns. On September 30, 2008, he released his debut album, Politics As Usual, to critical acclaim. Politics As Usual featured production and appearances from Hip-hop heavyweights such as Bun B, Prodigy, Freeway, Sheek Louch, The Alchemist, Pete Rock, Buckwild, Easy Mo Bee & Large Professor.

Establishing his own spot amongst the ranks of East Coast hip-hop's seminal figures, DJ/producer Statik Selektah utilized his turntabling skills and ingenuity in PR and promotions to break some of the region's most promising artists, bearing his own influence on the national mixtape circuit. As a producer he has worked with Talib Kweli, Bun B, Styles P, Consequence, Freeway, M.O.P. and Jadakiss (among many others); and most importantly, the DJ became a major-player on the mixtape circuit as his releases with Nas, Q-Tip, John Legend, and Saigon received major accolades and write-up’s. Statik dropped his first LP, Spell My Name Right in 2007, Stick 2 the Script in 2008 and his third full-length solo-project, 100 Proof: The Hangover in 2010.

Statik has revealed that 1982 will be released on October 26, 2010 through Showoff Records, in conjunction with Term's ST. Records and famed Boston underground Hip Hop imprint---Brick. The 1st leak from the album is the grimey headnodder “Goin Back.” The record has been getting rave reviews on the net, radio & streets alike and features legendary West Coast act Xzibit (MTV’s Pimp My Ride) & “The Hustler” Cassidy. A video is in the works for “Goin Back” with director John Colombo, who recently shot visuals the for official single off the 1982 album - “You Should Go Home,” which features “Mr. 5 Mics” Bun B & Maybach Music crooner Masspike Miles. The video for “You Should Go Home” is out now and the single is available on Itunes & All digital stores.

With the release date for the project now on the horizon, Termanology laments on the project named after his and Statik’s mutual year of birth – “I'm excited, the album is finally here and hip-hop is in desperate need of an album like this right now.” Other album highlights include Term spazzing out on the 100 bar intro “The World Renown” and linking up with legendary MC’s Inspectah Deck, Styles P & M.O.P.

As an added bonus, Statik Selektah has also revealed that the duo will release a free Bonus EP of exclusive material to those who provide proof of purchase of the album.

MOE POPE

Produced by Rain, and featuring contributions from Headnodic, Reks, Edo G and more!

CHECK THE SPLIT VIDEO FOR '"GODZILLA" & "ROCK ME II" HERE-

http://www.youtube.com/brickrecords

MC Moe Pope's career first took off in the early 2000s with Bay Area-based hip-hop band Mission (who later became known as Crown City Rockers).
After a series of 12"s, Pope appeared on the group's LP,
One, in 2001, before he decided to return to Boston in order to look after his daughter. Back in his
hometown, he connected with rapper/producer Insight and his five-man outfit, Electric (aka
Electric Company). Along with members Anonymous and Raheem Jamal, Pope broke off from
Electric to form Project Move, issuing their debut album, Love Gone Wrong/Butterfly Theory, in
2006. As each group’s members went off to make solo records, Pope reunited with his former
Crown City cohort Headnodic for the 2008 well received collaborative album Megaphone.

2010 finds Moe Pope with a new production partner and a new label for his latest and most mature
work to date, Life After God. Produced (almost entirely - Headnodic does supply the last beat as a
bridge to the next Megaphone project) by upstart beat smith Rain (who has laid tracks for Masta Ace, Blacastan, Day Laborers and others),
Life After God is what contemporary Hip Hop should sound like; not scarred to take chances sonically but with it’s roots firmly planted in traditional Boom Bap and Rock.
The duo enlists the vocals of fellow Beantown legends Edo. G and REKS, Punk crooner/hypeman Chris
Talkin and live instrumentation from Crown City Rockers alum. Brick Records is pleased to
release this collective vision of Moe Pope and Rain, packaged in a 6 panel CD wallet and including
full lyric sheets.

Envision the MC/Producer platform of Pete Rock & CL Smooth blended with the abstract prose of Bob Dylan and the pure adrenalin angst of Bad Brains and prepare for your Life After God.

  BLACASTAN
'Blac Sabbath'
In Stores NOW!

Known for his classic hard core style, no-sellout attitude, and a
true life story that would make the most street minded A&R
envious, rhyme animal Blacastan is sure to cement his name in
the annals of hip hop.
Growing up in Hartford, CT Blac began to take an interest in hip
hop music during his teen years, but it was violence and street
life that took up most of his time. Thanks to his strong-arm style
while taking care of business, a 16-year-old Blacastan was tried
as an adult when he was arrested in the mid-'90s. Serving his
sentence left him plenty of time for listening and writing. He
favored the underground sound of the Lyricist Lounge and
Soundbombing series along with artists like Nas, Mobb Deep,
The Wu Tang Clan and Pharoahe Monch. After digging deeper
and deeper into the underground while working on his own
rhymes, he emerged from prison with an impressive skill set, a
throwback style, and an unmatched drive and determination. His
first mixtape Me Against the Radio became a favorite in the
underground and an internet cult classic, especially it’s key cut
and video, "Life Of A Tape." Appearances on releases from
Blue Sky Black Death, Krumbsnatcha, Jean Grae, Esoteric
and Apathy followed. The extremely limited CD-only
Master Of
Reality
mixtape with The Bladerunners (7L & Beyonder)
garnered the emerging rhyme juggernaut even more momentum.
So now the resurrection of realness reigns supreme; a return to
the hard core east coast hip hop that many have forgotten or
turned their backs on. Many, but not Blac. And his peers and fans
are responding. The full length opus entitled “Blac Sabbath” is
finally here. The debut album boasts production & vocals from
some of the elite in the game: Statik Selektah, Blue Sky Black
Death, Mr. Green, Colombeyond, Esoteric and Celph Titled.
So dust off your hoodies and timbs, twist the cap on the Olde E,
split the dutch and get ready to experience the sound that many
are dubbing the ‘savior of underground rap music’.
Homeboys and homegirls, The Blac Sabbath is here.

The album is titled after the classic novel, “Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison and features the standout singles “88 Soul” and “California Dreamin’” (video has over 200k views on YouTube) -

The video also is included on this enhanced CD.

As Quamallah himself states: “My favorite time period for Hip Hop music was de?nitely between 1983 and 1994 with 1988 and 1993 being two years that standout as extremely impressive years musically and culturally. The fashion, slang, movies, t.v. shows, and vibe during those years was incredible. while totally submerged in the feelings and music of that entire time period, I went to work on “Invisible Man” and I am excited for people to hear the result! It is an album that I would want to hear from some of my favorite artists of the past and present today. This is not a RETRO trip for me; this is me at my best lyrically and spiritually using the accessories of the 80’s and 90’s to fuel me. I am a ‘88 soul as the song states!”

Personal Key Notes:

:1. “California Dreamin’” video has over 100k views on YouTube
